North Texas VW Club Poker Rally
2/21/2004
Thanks to Bob Pearce for organizing this event, planning the route, testing it two or three times, figuring out the questions and making it a very fun and very well planned event. Everyone had a blast. Also thanks to Bob for all these pictures.
Yes some got a little off the planned route and some got lost for a little while. Some ended up going a bit farther than the rest but we all ended up at the same place!!! No one got pulled over or totally lost so they had to open their envelope with their license and directions inside. Which would disqualify you!

Bob wants to thank the Rally course workers Pam Shane, Craig Keefer, Karl Kindt, Riley Barger, Richard Thackerson, & Emma Pearce. Second, a special thanks to our sponsors Rusty Wallace Volkswagen, 102.1 the Edge, & Vicki @ Metro VW. North Texas VW Club also appreciates the Air Heads for hosting the early morning breakfast at Airways Hamburgers.
The rally course was 22.4 miles in length & transversed the Ball Park in Arlington, the bubbling crude of Black Gold, a remote controlled locomotive, Angus G. Wynne, Jr. Freeway, a herd of tan buffaloes, Lone Star Park, the western trails of a trailer park, ESPOO FINLAND, India's Ballywood, a herd of miniature horses, a gray rabbit, V-Dub Folks, the Historic Birdville Trail, a unique "Y", some pearly whites, Metro VW, a bronze horse, and a garden variety black & white Loon in Irving. All of this fun from beginning to end in under 1 hour & 30 minutes with picture perfect weather and done from the cockpit of your favorite VW. Ah !!!!!! It was a good day in the neighborhood with friends, family & a pet dog. Thanks to all who participated. And now for the winners of our excursion on the highways: BEST POKER HAND: 1) Marvin & Antoine DeHon, 2) Larry Parrott, 3) Darren Bullock (he didn't look anything like Sandra); RALLY MILEAGE: Shirley Jenkins; RALLY QUESTIONS: 1-5 Ruby Alexander; 6-12 Jerry Reed; 13-25 Wayne Alexander; 26-36 Paula Decker; 37-45 Shirley Jenkins. A few others got all the answers but we used the closest mileage as a tiebreaker.
Airways Hamburgers Parking lot where the Air Heads organized a Breakfast get together and lined up to cruise to the ballpark.
